11 Strong German Shepherd Puppies born November 13, 2013

We are still accepting deposits on future litters of German shepherd puppies. Call 252 964-2514

There were 7 girls and 4 boys. The German shepherd puppies which we predicted would be solid black, will most likely be solid black. Those German shepherd puppies which are destined to be either bicolor black and tan, or black and tan, will have the tan coloring gradually increase as they age up around 6 to 8 months of age.

3 male German shepherd puppies will be black and tan (or bicolor black and tan); 1 male German shepherd puppy will be solid black

2 female German shepherd pups will be black and tan (or bicolor black and tan); 5 female German shepherd puppies will be solid black.

We organized the photos of the most recent litter in a slideshow. For the nine weeks they are with us, we will add photos. (We included the pre whelping x-rays, the first day photo and the birth photo of one puppy.)

As of Nov 27, 2013, individual slideshows have been started for each puppy. We will add to each puppy's slideshow as photos are available.

Each of the puppies was "named" according to the color of his collar.  Click on that puppy's name to see his weekly photos in a slideshow.  As of December 27, we have added character observations on each puppy.

Have fun reading the whimsical "Diary of a German shepherd Puppy" from birth to 9 weeks of age, when our German shepherd puppies leave to go to their forever homes.   It is ongoing and gives some indication of the daily care and extra attention that our puppies receive, as well as indicating the personalities of each puppy.

FEMALES

1 Yellow collar Black & Tan Female German shepherd puppy  SOLD This black and tan girl weighed 10 lb on Jan 5, when 7 1/2 weeks old.  She is a smart smart girl, who will play boldly with puppies bigger than she is.  She cleverly hides facing into a corner or other hiding spot when she has a toy that she does not want to share with another puppy.  She has often been observed dropping what she is doing to deliberately walk over to the potty area to go pee or poo.  She can do the "commando pull up" to lift herself over a 17 inch high barricade to get to something of interest, or just because she wants to be where Grandma is.  She is sweet and loving to people and loves to be held and rocked like a baby.  She gives puppy kisses.  She will not let other puppies push her around; she will counterattack and they will leave her alone

2 Red collar Female black German shepherd puppy  SOLD This mostly black girl weighed 12 lb on Jan 5, when 7 1/2 weeks old.  She is a cuddler who likes to be held and rocked or given a tummy rub.  She will come and beg to be held.  She has fallen asleep while being held.  She has often been observed very deliberately stopping what she is doing to intentionally walk over to the potty area to go pee or poo.  She can do the "commando pull up" to lift herself over a 17 inch high barricade to get to something of interest. She will struggle and wrestle quite fiercely with ofther puppies to get what she wants, or defend what she has; but, if the other puppy is in a co-operative mood, she is quite happy to play happily with the toy with another puppy without fighting.  She is developing just a little bit of tan / silver on her chest. She LOVES to play; she found a straw and carried it around with it in her mouth like a stick, prancing like a ballerina.  She ran and cleverly dodged the other pursuing puppies who wanted her new "toy"  She shared her nylabone nicely with green collar.

3 Lime/yellow collar Female black German shepherd puppy   SOLD This solid black girl weighed 11 lb on Jan 5, when 7 1/2 weeks old.  She is a smart, independant confident girl, who will play boldly with puppies bigger than she is.  She has been very assertive in challenging even the biggest puppy, taking flying leaps off stairs to attack them when they have something she is interested in, or they challenge her.  She loves to wrestle, and can take down even the biggest puppies, "Black collar" pinning him to the floor in a "death grip".  She can do the "commando pull up" to lift herself over a 17 inch high barricade to get to something of interest.  If another pup tries to take what she has, she just holds on and wrestles with him till he gives up.  If another pup has what she wants, she walks off with it, even if she has to drag along the bigger puppy attached to the toy.  Yet, with people, she is very loving and cuddly.  She seems to prefer women.  She was one of the five puppies that we regularly supplemented with milk to ensure that she thrived.  She will come and beg to be picked up, and lean into us while being held.

4 Orange collar Female black German shepherd puppy  SOLD  This girl weighed 11 lb 8 ounces, on Jan 5, when 7 1/2 weeks old.  She loves to play, so much that she often prefers to play with the toys than eat.  (She knows that more food will be put out.  She likes to wrestle with the other puppies; she will lie on her back, pretending to be vulnerable, till a puppy hops over to attack.  Then, the other puppy is in for a challenging match.  She can do the "commando pull up" to lift herself over a 17 inch high barricade to get to the toys first.  She has great concentration.  When she decides to play with something, she perseveres and is not easily distracted.  She will come to us and beg for attention, but does not lie quietly while being held.  Very active.  She is strong and possessive of her toys; she will also find a hiding place when she has a toy that she really doesnt want to share.  She usually wins struggles with other pups, or she will persevere till she wins.  She is developing a tiny spot of silvery tan color on her breastbone area.  She was the pup who "invented" the game, "Puppy in the box"  We gave them a cardboard box to play with; she went inside and waited for a puppy victim to approach.  Then it turned into a full blown challenge match, while the other puppy tried in vain to get into the box.

5 White collar Female black German shepherd puppy   SOLD  This girl weighed 13 lb. on Jan 5, when 7 1/2 weeks old, the biggest puppy.  She was one of the first to discover the fun of playing with a ball.  She can do the "commando pull up" to lift herself over a 17 inch high barricade to get to something of interest.  She is very good at dropping what she is doing to go to potty on the paper.  She will not let other puppies push her around; she will counterattack and they will leave her alone.  Often she joins with another puppy to start a three puppy wrestling match.  She is very aggressive when playing puppy in the box.  She was very good when Grandma did her front nails with the Dremel at 7 weeks.  She has been seen to share a nylabone nicely with Green collar.  She likes to be held, but is also quite independant.

6 Green collar Female German shepherd puppy  SOLD This girl weighed 11 lb on Jan 5, when 7 1/2 weeks old.  She is a cuddler, who likes to be held, and likes tummy rubs.  She has often been observed dropping what she is doing to deliberately walk over to search the potty area for the perfect spot to go pee or poo.  She can do the "commando pull up" to lift herself over a 17 inch high barricade to get to something of interest.  When she has a toy that others want, and she knows it, she will prance happily with the toy, to tease them.  When they attack for the toy, she will struggle vigorously to retain the toy.  After play is over and she is tired, she will find a spot by Grandma's feet to sleep.  She was very good when Grandma redid her front nails with the Dremel.  Lately, although she doesn't actively seek confrontations with other puppies, they have learned that she is a formidibal opponent if they press a challenge.  She was the last puppy to leave; by the time she left she was very good with the commands "Here, sit, down and walk (on leash).  She was the perfect balance of a laid back easy going dog, who loved to play as well.

7 Pink collar Female Black & Tan German shepherd puppy  SOLD  This girl weighed 12 lb 4 ounces on Jan 5, when 7 1/2 weeks old. She prefers to have the choice toys, all to herself.  If a puppy dares to try to take what she has, he is in for a long, long struggle.  She just does not give up.  She can do the "commando pull up" to lift herself over a 17 inch high barricade to get to something of interest. When play time is over, and most of the puppies are starting to go to sleep, she is often the only one still playing.  She likes to be held, but is an independant girl, who does not submit to the big boys.  She has big big tree trunk legs and paws; she will be a bigger than average female dog.  She was very co-operative when her front nails were Dremelled recently.  She loves the dog in the box game.  She will also let you hold her for a long long time.  She has been seen playing nicely and sharing toys with Purple collar.

MALES

8 Black collar Solid black male German shepherd puppy   SOLD  This boy weighed 13 lb 3 ounces on Jan 5, when 7 1/2 weeks old. He was one of the first pups to bark to challenge the other puppies.  He still prefers to have the choice toys, all to himself.    He likes to be held, but he likes to be held on his own terms, not on his back like a baby, but, sitting on our knee.  He has taken to going to sleep in one of the small "practise" crates where the pups practise a little crate time.  A favorite trick he learned from another pup is to sit on a stair, barking challenges to puppies passing by, then, with no warning, making a flying leap onto an unsuspecting puppy.  Very brave, very much likes to play; but he likes to WIN!  He is very good at dropping what he is doing to go to the paper to do his potty business.

9 Purple collar Black & Tan Male German shepherd puppy  SOLD  This boy weighed 12 lb 2 ounces on Jan 5, when 7 1/2 weeks old. He is the cuddler of all the boys.  He likes to play, but he likes to be held too.  He is the pup whom the others are most likely to play nicely with and share a toy with.  He is content to share rather than needing to dominate the others.  But, when he has a toy he is fascinated by, and another pup wants to steal it, he will vigorously defend his possession of that toy, and fight to keep it.  See the photos of him falling asleep while being rocked in my arms like a baby.  He totally loved being held.  He will also make a determined effort to find the paper to do his business.  He likes to play and wrestle with the other pups, but is not quite as aggressive in his play.  However, he has been seen to be very possessive of his ball, when he is engrossed in ball play, he will not share and holds onto it fiercely if another pup decides to take it.

10 Aqua collar Black & Tan Male German shepherd puppy  SOLD   He was one of the first pups to bark to challenge the other puppies.  He still prefers to have the choice toys, all to himself.    He likes to be held, but he likes to be held on his own terms, not on his back like a baby, but, sitting on our knee.  He has been observed wanting to play with Grandma rather than struggle with the other puppies at the food dishes.  When he does decide that it is meal time, he takes a very big portion of the food.  He seems to burn off some of his food intake in being so very active.  He and black are very similar in their personalities.  They are tough, brave and have a lot of play drive.  He likes to be bossy over the other puppies.  Doing a very good job of being conscientious in his potty training, to do his business in the proper place.

11 Blue collar Black & Tan Male German shepherd puppy  SOLD   He likes to sleep using another puppy as his pillow  He will do the "commando lift" to get over the barricade to get to whatever he wants.  He still prefers to have the choice toys, all to himself.    He likes to be held, but he likes to be held on his own terms, not on his back like a baby, but, lying on his tummy, on our knees, being cuddled and loved. Very very good at discontinuing whatever he is doing when he has to go pee or poo, and search out the perfect spot to do his business
